Estey Organ Museum’s annual rehomings are scheduled for October 7 and October 14 from 2 to 4 pm. Rehoming is a way for EOM to get its duplicate and non-museum quality organs into the hands of those who will use and enjoy them.
There will be several dozen restorable instruments available from the collections of both EOM and the Brattleboro Historical Society. There are also a baby grand piano, wooden pipes, clamps, vintage cabinet-sized speakers, and several non-Estey reed organs, including a fully restored Sterling. Most of the unrestored organs are free but donations are appreciated.
Many of the surplus instruments could be rehabilitated by cleaning them or repairing the bellows. Others instruments are musically unusable but are valuable to woodworkers for their beautiful cases. Although purists may decry the idea of turning a musical instrument into a desk or liquor cabinet, we say that that is still a way to respect and enjoy the fine craftsmanship and woodworking skills of Estey workers.
Our rehomings are open to all.
Note that the museum cannot deliver or ship instruments. We recommend bringing a pick-up truck.
